Letting go to see clearly ~ How to work with the Full Moon in Aries

6th October: PDT 20:47 | EDT: 23:47 | 7th October BST 04:47

This October we welcome the first full moon since eclipse season. During September’s eclipses, you may have experienced some shifts - possible culminations, endings, revelations and maybe new beginnings. The depth to which these themes showed up in your world will depend on your birth chart, but if any of them resonate - you may be faced with the question, what now?

Full moons offer us a space to consider this. This month, our full moon arrives in the sign of Aries, and we are gifted with the dynamic energy of the ram. As the first sign of the zodiac, the energy of Aries, ruled by Mars, gives us a sense of initiation, new beginnings and a spark of childlike wonder for the journey ahead. When the moon is in Aries, emotions can feel impulsive, fuelled by heightened tension, motivation, or excitement.

Deeply charged…

Our full moon this month is deeply charged, infused with the energy of Mars in Scorpio, alongside inquisitive planet, Mercury. This influence suggests that before leaping into action, or acting on impulse, a more considered, strategic deep dive of all the information may be required. Meanwhile, Neptune’s retrograde in Aries also calls us towards finding clarity, reminding us that what appears on the surface may not be the full story. We may need to look beneath appearances to grasp deeper truths.

Under this full moon, we have an opportunity to consider all that the eclipses brought forth and to let go of any residual unsettled energy. It’s time to pause and decide where our focus is best placed to forge a bright, clear path ahead…

Ways to work with the full moon in Aries:

  •  Allow yourself time out: This is the first full moon following eclipse season, and its intensity may be keenly felt. Ease any pressure where you can and lighten your schedule to create space for yourself.

  • Honour your body’s rhythm: If the energy feels heightened, take a walk, clear your mind, and restore your focus. If energy is low, slow down and rest, knowing that this current will soon pass.

  •  Reflect on your needs: Have your priorities shifted since eclipse season? Take a moment to contemplate what has changed. If it feels supportive, explore your reflections through journaling.

  • Choose wise action: Consider what thoughtful steps may now be needed to bring about release or resolution.

  • Honour the full moon with ritual: Create space to surrender what no longer serves you. Write a list of what you wish to let go, gather with trusted companions by a fire and safely burn your notes beneath the light of the full moon.

Take a moment to pause…

Check in with yourself, notice whether the dust has truly settled, or if there are still emotions asking for your care and attention. We can tune in by journaling, meditating or simply finding some quiet time to ‘just be’ and see what comes up. Here are a few prompts to help you on your way:

Journal prompts for the Aries full moon:

  • What is reaching completion or coming into full expression now?

  • What supports me in gaining clarity and true perspective?

  •  Where do I need to take a considered approach?

  • What am I ready to release that may be holding me back?

Allow this full moon to help you find clarity and focus.

Wishing you beautiful full moon friends,
